Was in
BCF.
Perth yesterday having a sticky beak. I think it has just opened.
They had Magellan explorist XL traveller packs $1295 (tempted) could not get SWMBO to open the purse. Also a Engel 1000 watt gen $1149. Seemed a good
shop will be going there again. Lots of other goodies. Think I might take her out
to dinner the night before we go again. Cheers Brian

Brian
You're right
BCF does have a great range of products. But just the other day I was thinking about how the
BCF stores operate compared with other camping stores.
I'm in
Cairns and the
BCF store opened here not that long ago. There is also a
well established camping store here - Geo Pickers. On saturday I had just been in to TJM to order a roof rack and thought "
Well I'll go and get a smaller tarp to tie to it so I can get a bit of shade/shelter when I need it." Stopped off at Pickers, told the bloke who served me what I was up to and before I knew it he showed me an aluminium moulding they stocked which matched up with a tarp they make and is a very neat solution to what I was wanting.
I said to SWMBO that if we had gone to
BCF I would have walked out with a small tarp, but this way I walked out with just what I wanted. I realised that
BCF is a bit like Bunnings - lots of
well priced products but not too much in the way of alternative solutions or experience based advice.
So that's my contribution for the day!!

Yes
BCF just opened in Cannington Wa. They have some great prices on SOME THINGS and absolute rippoffs in others. The Engel brand gennie is not sine wave, just in case you want to run a laptop or something.
GOOD PRICES..... Bushranger MaxAir $349.00 thats pretty good, but the driza bone coat, whoa, forget about it.
But there is a lot of stuff they do not have that I would expect to find in any decent camping store. Stuff I went in there looking for......12v kettle........shower tent.......

My experience is that when items are not on special at
BCF you will do much better (and get better service and advice) at your local camping store.
When items are on special they are usually very
well priced at
BCF.
I continue to do most of my shopping at the local store, but
check the
BCF catalogue when it arrives in the junk mail.
