I have a 2003 GU Nissan Patrol ST 4.2 litre Turbo-diesel ute which has done 72,000 km and lately I've noticed that after the engine is hot (after approx 1/2 hour running), the power is noticeably down from when the engine is cooler. The vehicle has been regularly serviced and oil levels and coolant levels are fine and engine temp gauge is normal. As I was away from home on a trip at the time, I asked a couple of Nissan service centres about this and had varying (and expensive) replies as to the problem. Would appreciate any members feedback if they have experienced similar problems and what the cure was ?

Still under warranty? Get Nissan to check and fix it.

At 160,000 same thing, sticking waste
gate on turbo, when hot aparently carbon build up - solution mechanic disconnected the actuator open & shut the
gate several times gave it a wack with a hammer and put it back together no problems since. Charged me $20.00 said that was because he knew how hard to hit it.

Hi
Well I have a old 1986 Turbo Diesel with over 400000 Ks plus, I have this trouble if I don't change the oil ,every 5000Ks as the oil pressure drops & the auto cut out starts to cut in due the internal carbon inside the motor making oil to thick & causes it to lose power & blocks oil filter inlet spring , overheats, worth a check but this is a very old Truck which has done some very hard trips & all up weight of 3 ton

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE FUEL FILTER IN THE FUEL PUMP?? ON THE INLET TUBE GOING INTO THE FUEL PUMP THERE IS A VERY SMALL WIRE GAUZE FILTER WHICH IS A BASTARD TO GET OUT. THIS IS NOT LISTED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL AND MANY WORKSHOPS WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW IT'S THERE. I RECENTLY DID A CSR TRIP WITH A MATE THAT HAD A SIMILAR VEHICLE AND WE HAD TO CLEAN HIS OUT 3 TIMES IN 2000K........ GIVE THAT A TRY
