Can anyone tell me if in WA, I can get a lumbar support fitted to front passengers seat.

My lady has a bad back, and most cars only have it for the driver.

Thanks

Col

Hi Col,

Try the Independent Living Centre located at The Niche, 11 Aberdare Rd, Nedlands. Phone : 9381 0600. They have some amazing stuff for anyone with a disability.

The cheap way out of this is to get a tea towell, or a childs bathroom towell, and roll it up tight ,,
then work off the cover at back of the seat ( most seats allow you to do this via steal clips ) from the bottom
Gently ease back the springs,, and insert the roll
Adjust ( more or less rolls ) according to comfort zone

I have used this method for the last 25 years, and it keeps me going,, and going good,,,
Without it, I cannot walk after driving 50 kms or so

Cheers
Bucky

Reject Shop, here in Traralgon, have quite good car lumbar supports for $5.00!
I use one & find it to be very good.

Hi Herkman, Go to Forty Winks or Harvey Norman bedding department and ask about a Tempur Transit Lumbar support. Or see it at www.tempur.com.au
I work for this co. so will not say too much more as I know the rules of this forum and don't want to upset anybody.

herkman I had a pump up lumbar bladder installed in the drivers seat of 100 series Lancruiser, you just squeeze the bulb to pump it up to suit you back. Fitted by
John's Motor Trimmers 7 Adrian St. Welshpool Ph 94705531

Snatchem, could you give me a rough idea of the cost? My wife suffers from back issues and this sounds like a good solution. We're in Perth.

Thanks and cheers

Red, I can't remember the exact price as I had some extra foam put into the seat as well but I think the lumbar was less that $150.00.

Get a good quality obese blood pressure cuff bladder, and the bulb used to pump up one that doesn't have the guage built into it.

Undo the staples at the bottom of the seat back and slide the bladder up to the desired height between the seat back and the cover. Usually the tight fit will keep it in place. A bit of experimentation will be required to perfect the height.

Extend the tube on the bladder and connect it to bulb.

(Optional: Put the hard word on SWMBO at the completion of every long trip after you do this for her, her back should be fine.)

This worked well for me. But the key is the Obese Cuff bladder as it's wider than a standard adult arm bladder.

The techo term for a blood pressure device is a sphygmomanometer if you want to impress your friends when you explain the solution.
