On Patrol
G'day,
GQ-TUFF, Boldjack & I are heading up to Baal Bone Gap, Gardens of Stone &
Lost City (NSW) on the weekend.
Has anyone been there recently (last two months) that can advise us on possible changes to track condition from earlier this year?
We are aware that it can be steep with rocky steps, (high clearance preferred) but I am not sure what the track condition may be like since some heavy rain in the area a couple of months ago.
We are aware that
the Lost City track is not a through road any more.
On Patrol.

All the tracks in that are that you are going on have been graded in the last few weeks.
The Lost City track I am not sure if it has been graded but all the rest have.

Evening ,On Patrol. Have just posted some pix of
Lost City so check it out in
Places. We were there at
Easter and our friends drove a Magna and a Falcon along
the Lost city track except the last 300m which we just added to the pleasant walk down to the largest formations. Further north along the Glowworm Tunnel Rd is a turnoff to Deep Pass and off this track is some challenging 4WDing. This is on the NPWS tourist map of Wollemi but oddly enough
the Lost City is not. Also it may be worth checking that the track thru Gardens of Stone south from Ben Bullen is still open. Then you can cross the Newnes road and go down Blackfellows Hand track to where it hits
the Lost City turnoff. Cheers, Warrie

Thank you Warrie
I am aware of many of the tracks in the area and yes you are quite correct about
Lost City track, it almost like the NPWS don't want anyone to know where it is. The road just disappeared from the maps a few years ago. It was once a through road, that would have been interesting to drive, you would know what I mean if you walked down it.
If you are a member of a 4WD Association affiliated 4WD club, you may be able to get a key to the Spanish Steps, the turn off is off Blackfellows Hand Rd. A very interesting, beautiful and spectacular trip if you get the chance.
Thanks mate.
