Yes folks, after months of looking looking looking, our latest acquisition basically fell into our laps! We'd been searching for a 2nd hand "dirt road" van but over here in the West they're either snapped up before you know it, or they didn't quite suit what we'd planned for.
Anyway, long story short, we've purchased a Sunland
Longreach II (18'6") which was up for sale by a Qld couple currently in
Perth (with the van!). As luck would have it, they were staying in a caravan pk only 3kms from our place so it was a simple matter to check it out....after some haggling, the van was ours!!
We take actual possession in abt a week's time...can't wait !! Currently going thru the throes of re-registration.
Whoohoo!!
Cheers

Don't let Truckster know there's another caravan on the road, he calls us all "mobile roadblocks" but we all know he's just jealous ;-).
Got to admit I'm jealous of his TD6 GU though ;-(
Regards Andrew.

G'day RedGibber,
We recently bought a used "Dirt Road" van too, ended up with a Golf Starliner ATV.
Anyway, During the search i dropped into the Sunland factory in Caboolture north of
Brisbane and ended up chatting with one of the salesmen about the used vans they had, nothing suited us so out of interest i said, can i have a look at the new Sunlands on display,he said sure and showed me thru a couple (Out of our price range - purely interest only) he was explaining the construction techniques, ie chassis etc and then he swung his entire body weight off one end cupboard! i was impressed, didn't flex a bit. looked very strong. My guess is that you will be quite impressed.
Enjoy
Greg

You must have had the same guy, we got that demo too. Found it strange we weren't asked one question regarding if we were buying soon. That's a couple of hours he wasted with you and us who were'nt even intending to buy.

Check the H frame support in the roof for the air con, if it's got air. Apparently an issue earlier on with those vans.

Congratulations on the new van.
I picked up my new c/van last Thursday after a 3 month wait. Had 5 nights in it coming home and am very happy with our choice.
It is not an off road but is classed as a semi off road model, so hopefully it will live up to our expectations and we will have some good trips in the furure.
