Anyone buying either a new or used vehicle and having the car yard you purchase through getting the gas fitted for you and including it in the price DON'T. It seems after buying a new 380 and having it fitted with LPG before delivery and having this included in the cost of the vehicle, I am not elegible for the rebate. I have to now chase up the car yard and hope they will do a reciept for payment seperately for the vehicle and the LPG, or as we don't have a reciept for the LPG fit, (No Rebate).. Sucks if you ask me!!

Shouldn't you get at least the $1000 rebate for a new vehicle with LPG if it's ruled you can't get the $2000 rebate?

Probably can, this will be investigated along with getting a reciept, but the facts are the $1000 rebate is for Factory fits, this vehicle wasn't, it was a new vehicle fitted locally, should be $2000, as it would be if anyone walked into a 4X4 dealer and wanted a petrol fourby ute from the showroom and asked the dealer to fit the LPG, a canopy and ballbar. The purchaser would get a reciept for the vehicle total price, and would be eligable for either the of the rebates unless they can produce a reciept for the LPG

I'll bet they got the rebate.

We had that with an immobiliser fitted to a second hand car by the car yard (compulsory in WA). We paid full them price and the car yard kept the rebate.

businesses aren't eligible ... you need them to get you a separate receipt for the fitting from an authorised fitter.

Yes, talking about immobiliser in W.A. I bought a second-hand car from a yard. In W.A. fitted with an immobiliser. The dealer wanted to charge me extra for it. I pointed out to him that it was illegal to sell a car without an immobiliser and if he wanted to charge me for it the deal was off. Guess what happened?????

Hi Ray - I'm glad you won that round. It is not illegal to sell a car without an immobiliser, just has to have one to get it licenced or licenced transferred. So if you buy a car, you have to get the immobiliser before you can get the licence transferred to your name. That means onus is on the purchaser not the seller.
