G/Day all,
I am about to the point of needing to replace the original exhaust system on my 93 80 series (diesel 1HZ).
Any advice on what I should or should not do to get the best of fuel economy/performance would be appreciated. I plan on headers as
well.
Thanks very much
Andy

Hi Andy,
Get a quality set of headers and at least a 2.5 exhaust system. I did the change in two stages first the headers and then exhaust a few years later.
I reckon I got about half a gear of extra power from the change over.
cheers

Andy, My opinion Get a 2 1/2" Exhaust with a free flowing muffler (completly remove the small one under the drivers door and replace the long round one at the rear with a free flow type) to suit a Turbo,
It will Breath heaps better give you more power and in the future if you decide to add a turbo thats one area your going to save money

Get rid of the squashed bit that goes over the rear axle - there's no reason to squash the pipe as it fits fine as it is. Guess Toyota had their reasons, but I can't see any.
Cheers

Hey,
I just had an exhaust system fitted through a mob called taipanxp on my 3L Hilux TD, very impressed, it flys now, i also had to go to the expense of a dpchip but it is
well worth it!
Is has more power and better economy (50km - 100km) depends on how i drive it, but the power was what i was chasing and it does 120kms on the highway no problems. I also have a
snorkel which helps to.
See how u go with them.
