I am after some assistance. I am after the size of the sump plug on the 1 HZ motor as I am going to do my own oil changes and I want to make sure I have the right size of socket/ring spanner before I start.

I would be greatful if someone could let me know.

Thanks - Karl

Hi Karl
Make sure you fit a new fibre washer each time, it saves oil leaks.
They are only a few cents each

Hi Karl,
The original sump plug on my cruiser had a very shallow head and stripped very easily, especially if you use the wrong size socket. The replacement ones from Toyota are much deeper and I would suggest it a good investment to get a new one, if only for a spare. As above, always replace the washer.

zFrom memory they have a decent head on them i just use a shifter. For the g/box, tc and diffs however you need a 15/16ths preferably 6 sided socket as usually the last boofhead has tightened the crap out of them and they have a thin fragile head
