Has anyone had issues with their patrol's clutch & flywheel failing after 47000km's.
and has it been replaced by Nissan outside of their warrenty period?

Have had quote to have it replaced at a cost of $3100 (aftermarket- Daikin), and is this a better option than the "Genuine part" ?

Any feed back appreciated.

I had the clutch replaced as well as the Master Cyl after 180,000k on a 4.2. I went for the Daikin H/D clutch and a Nissan master cyl.

Cost $1600. at Dimbula FNQ.

Yes the dual mass flywheels fail, the daikin aftermarket kit has a solid flywheel which solves this problem but you will notice a slight increase in driveline harshness. normally these kits fitted are approx $2500.

The reason that Nissan increased torque (on the manuals only, in later models) was to overcome early clutch failures. Also fitting a Dtronic will help to increase clutch life.

My Brother-in-law has just done it on his 01 GU It had around 60K on it. The Daikin flywheel is machinable so it is a lifetime solution, whereas with the Nissan one you will usually only get a clean-up cut if you are lucky.
The bloke that replaced his said he would notice more torque. I thought BS. But after driving in it, I would say it definitely has more torque low down before the turbo kicks in that our 04 model.
However his does seems to be noisy and a little harsher in the driveline now

Yep normal.
We do the Commodores as well as they are fitted with a dual mass flywheel to.
Best thing to do is get rid of it and fit a solid state flywheel.
