Perhaps some of us are becoming too internet centric? :)

I'm sitting at my computer when I hear a wooossshing noise, I look out the window, directly in front of me, and observe it's raining moderately heavily - next I open a new browser window and call up the BOM 128km weather radar to confirm what I can see and hear 4 feet in front of me.... :)

Going back 40 or 50 years, who could have imagined that it may come to this?

The same analogy goes for most things electronic. We use a GPS to find a street sign....lol

Like 3G phones, you call up the internet site of the resturaunt you are standing outside to check the menu (that they usually have stuck up in the window)...

LOL, Mke,
I remember a Leunig cartoon with a family sitting on the lounge watching a sunset on the tv. Through the window in the background is a 'real' sunset....

when i'm sitting at my computer and i hear a wooooshing noise i usually blame the cabbage. i haven't got a dog.
but i yearn for the old simple ways like when your wife (worried about the washing on the line and dark clouds) used to shout "go and check if its raining".
the retort (feet up,watching sat sport with a beer in hand) would be " bugger off, call the dog in and see if it's wet"
wait a minute....................theres some kids playing in the park over the road, i'd better go over and get them home to google " UV ".
whats wrong with kids today?

lol, but you wanted to see just how widespread it was didn't you, it's not something that happens much these days. I have a radar tab open permanently along with my weatherzone briefing page. 5mm over last 24hrs is something I haven't seen for a while

Just a few hundred metres from me, roofs off, carports blown into splinters, roofing iron through windows, looked like a bluddy war zone, all happened in a few short minutes. No damage to my property, it's amazing how selective these events can be

Also we get to communicate and hear from a whole lot of like minded individuals,
who without this wonderful internet we may never have heard from, and who hopefully some day we may get to meet in some far flung part of this great country.

And using my window on the world I can tell you its overcast and dry in Wollongong.

And the washing looks dry so maybe I should get out in the "real" world and bring it in!

Cheers
Garth

I've just spoiled myself with a 22" flat panel monitor due to the increasing difficulty reading small text, and it's so big I can't see past it !!

Fantastic though, I can fire up my TV tuner and watch crap at the same time as I sit here and do the tax collection work for our Govt.

This may sound odd to some but the bigger the GST cheque I give to them the happier I am.

I did look at the webcams on point nepean and observed that I should probably have gone fishing today as it didn't seem too rough.

..... or DVD players in vehicles, because we are too lazy to keep them occupied on trips by pointing out things of interest.

I can remember when the highest tech thing for kids in cars was, this will test a few memories, a game called "BP Spotto"!
