Hi Dags...
It is quite easy to do, if you get the Waeco components. They just screw together with a spanner. Waeco have ( or did have) a seperate catalogue with all their condensing unit options along with the evaporator options. You select which best combination best suits your application. The components are not cheap. I suggest you check their website for current equipment and prices. I converted a 300 lt domestic 240 v fridge, using the components. I removed all the 240v equipment, leaving just the cabinet and shelves etc. I fitted a their Air Circulating Evaporator VD-14 inside the cabinet, and CU-19 condencing unit (which has the BD50F Danfoss compressor) under the fridge, where the 240v compressor was located.
I installed the fridge in our 20ft caravan, about 4 yrs ago, for our two year trip around Oz. It worked great - stayed at about 4 deg. Plenty of room for drink and food ! .. Still going fine. If you want any more info you can contact me on res.q.guy@westnet.com.au
Regards
Neil

would have been cheaper to just change the compressor only...why fit a new evap coil?

I replaced the static evap for an air circulating evap for a quicker temp pull down time.

If only !!!!!!!
We had a refrigeration business and were lucky enough, that Waeco allowed us to buy the parts at trade ($400 off).
