hi guys,

i have a fj62 cruiser and was driving her today.. and felt a strange things with the brakes.. i applied them gently as usual and the brake pedal was fluctuating up and down pushing my foot along with it..

anyways i thought i should do the right thing and pull over and check it out..

i saw smoke coming from the wheel and switched off the engine, wondering what the heck was going on.. i touched the wheel and it was red hot..

so i let it cool down and i tried to take off to take her to the mechanics and she wouldnt move what so ever.. the whole wheel was frozen solid.... had to get her towed away..

any ideas what the problem would be and what sort of dollars im up against here??

Help would be greatly appreciated..

thanks in advance

Justin

Either seized wheel bearing or brakes jammed on. Lean toward the brakes though. Couldn't guess the cost. Sorry

Once had a similar problem in a kombi with smoke pouring out of the rear wheel. Found the handbrake had not released properly in the drum brake. Once the brakes had cooled down, it turned OK though. May have caught it in time before serious damage.
