I'm off to Straddie this weekend and have done the sand track through the centre from Amity Point to the beach (going south) and am looking for other 4wd tracks on the island. I know there's a lot of track closures due to the sand mining, but I'm sure there are other tracks to drive on. I believe there's one close to Brown Lake and has a view towards the Gold Coast? Can anyone help with locations please?
Cheers, Andrew.

Hi Troopyman, We have some friends with small kids in tow, so we'll be staying at Cylinder Beach campground. Close to all amenities and the pubs only a short walk away ;o)

Not much inland in the way of tracks, you will find once you start exploring you will find allot of mine sites so best you don't hang around there coz they are pretty deep and dangerous. I always look for 4x4 tracks when I go there and there is not much apart from dunes down the southern side of main beach….some nice thick stuff but apart from that nothing real tough. If you want a good view of the Goldie just go all the way down main beach to the river mouth. The tides makes some really nice pools where you can swim and will be great if you have little kids

Enjoy the trip
