Hi,

Have fitted one of the after market glove boxes were the passenger air bag would normally fit.

Has anyone found a way to fit a decent latch??

At the moment it works on friction between the surfaces and is pretty poor on rough roads.

Hi Aus
I think the idea of not having a latch is that the glove box can remain in its original form and thereby provide an invisibly storage area.

True but they don't stay closed it's a real pain on rough roads.

I've never seen one, but could you get some magnets or velcro in there somewhere?

I made my glove box and just went down to the local hardware where you can buy a lock/latch.. I'll try and describe it..
basically from the outside all you see is a key slot in a round face, on the inside as you turn the key a level rotates, so in th elocked position it's against the inside of the "box", in the open position it is prallel withthe edges and hence does not restrict opening.
Hardly a bulet proof situation but unless you are securing high value items it a great little deal.. cost be about $8 I think..

Looks neat John. As the lock is to one side does the door tend to stick out at the other end?

Quite the contrary, it was sticking out that end. Mine isn't the bought conversion. It cost me about half theirs and is bigger. The catch was about $9.?? in the local hardware shop and it has a floor to the lid. I used a 25mm hole saw to cut the hole in the lid and also the aluminium floor. I carpeted the inside including the inside of the lid.
