I have put a 3.5 inch lift on my 100 series gxl ,it is a live axle front end and when I get the speed up to 100-110 kms I get a slight vibration and noise. I have been told that it could be the angle of my front drive shaft. Just wondering if any one also has experienced the same problem and what can I do to solve this problem. I have also fitted a caster kit and penard rods. Thanks Dom.

Yep, have heard of it but havnt experianced it .I have lifted our cruiser 4" in the back and 3" in front and luckily didnt come across the problem.I wanted to go 4" each end but thought I might be pushing it(vibration).I also have no castor correction done and steers great.
I believe the only fix is a double cardon joint in the front shaft.I guess you've tried a wheel allignment and balance, made a huge differance to ours. Also check your universals if you have a noise.

A castor correstion kit installed in my 80 series with 3.5 inch lift (really the same spec vehicle as your 100) made an unbelievable difference to the handling & steering ease.
Four years later & still impressed with no vibrations and responsive light steering. Maybe the part time 4wd kit installed at the same time helped with this.

Thanks for your response. I have heard that the part time 4wd kit could do the trick. Could you tell me what was involved in this?

Thanks, Dom

G'day Dom

I bought my part time kit along with an automatic front diff lock from 4wd Systems in SAust. The part time kit includes the free wheeling hubs & a new hemisphere & activation system for the centre diff. The current "centre diff lock button" on the dash becomes the "engage 4wd button". You no longer have constant 4wd so all you 2wd runnning is with the rear diff only which represents most of the driving (including off road). In off road situations I just lock the hubs in as a precaution and it is only a push of a button to have immediate high range 4wd or use the lever to engage low range 4wd.
4wd Systems have a 2 page advert in Aust 4wd monthly magazine & they did a "meal deal" on a combo of the part time kit & the diff lock.
The diff locks makes a huge difference. On Sunday I did an extreme track with my local 4wd club & my old girl was the only one of the 4 trucks that did the 2 pitches under its own steam - the other 3 needed winch assistance.

Hope this is of help
