went to nissan for info on service on the Gu 4.2 turbo, he gave me a price of 119.00. he also said for a extra 35.00 i cane have it detailed inside and out.
I booked it in and was very sceptical, anyway picked it up four hour later and gess what. they changed both oil filters, checked all fluids and checked brakes and rotated
wheels. and the price was 135.00 they gave me an extra 20.00 discount.
happy as a pig in mud.
spoke to them about the 5th gear problems some are having and ks nissan will meet you halfway or about 2300.00 for a complete recon.

Mate where was that? Last service I had done they tried to charge me $275.00. As I am paying I ask for a detailed account of the work done, could not do so and immediately knocked $95.00 off. I don't mind saying that was in Wodonga!
Sounds like you had a good deal hence your post!
Cheers

Sounds great but i believe a mistake has been made on their behalf. Parts alone would come close to that at their prices at RRP. Good to hear you got a bargain!

Got a very good service done by Nissan at
Coffs Harbour on my 4.2 turbo, but the most expensive ever was the major service at Giant Nissan in Osborne
Park, which was over $1100, and that was with no extras, just the book service. (and that was a two or three years or so back).
Took my breath away!

Remember this is not Nissan Service at all.
Nissan are pathetically bad at delivering consistent service through their dealers.
They have a small number of very large dealers - Grand Nissan being one of two in SA, and a large number of pathetically small dealers. Further, each of these businesses has better or worse service levels and competencies, and are capable of negotiating with Nissan or not as the case may be. To make matters more variable, Nissan give their service managers in the field a high degree of autonomy and they make their own call on the questions thrown at them on warranty issues, by Nissan dealers on behalf of their customers.
Remember, it is Nissan who owe you the warranty service, if you have a warranty problem. Don't accept a crap answer as the final word until you have had it out with Nissan service manager (not the Dealer Service Manager) and with Nissan head office, if need be.
Don't attribute a good driveway service / lube experience to Nissan - it is a dealer initiative entirely - that said, hopefully it does point to a knowledge of what is acceptable and if you ever have a need, you might have a competent dealer pressing the Nissan people to have you looked after with your warranty problem.
Same can be said for any manufacturer, although Ford and Holden are mostly big dealerships with a lot of power. Toyota is somewhere in between.

I for one am happy with the service and the price i got, they also used genuine parts. this may be the dealer and not nissan i don't know, but i have had four vehicles made by nissan and this dealer has always treated me right. Also helped me out with my last gearbox with a 50% discount on a brand new box. My next door neighbour has had 14 vehicles from grand nissan and is also happy with there service.
