hey guys,
got an 88 fj62, was looking at the exhaust the other day.. should i have a cat? i thought it was weird.. i thought that cars had to have them after 85?
do i need one :-O?
Is it possible to get a better engine note from the exhaust without a cat?
cheers in advance

Cars after 86 have to have a catalytic convertor, to work with unleaded.
4wds, being commercial vehicles didn't.
ADR rules have changed though reasonably recently, but not sure when.

Hi,
My 98 Prado does not have one either, but the 2000 Prado (3rd revision of the series 90) does.
Cheers,
Mal

Hey,
If your car doesnt come with one standard its exempt from it. So if you go to the expense of a a new system you dont need the extra expense of a cat.
