If you google '
perth 4wd tours' you will come up with a list of all the prominent tour operators that I have seen out and about.
The pinnacles is worth a look, also you have many small historic towns just outside of the CBD (within an hour) that are worth visiting such as
York,
Guildford, beverly, mundaring, Dwellingup, Northem and similair. However the availability of tour operators frequenting these areas is unknown to me.
Rottnest Island is OK, but getting quite expensive. You will need to be a) a very good swimmer, or b) take the ferry. Bike hire is available, and apart from being on foot, is the only method of transport permitted on the island.
Alot of areas are
well within a couple of hours drive, such as areas through the SW and north to Jurien.
If it was me, I would use the public transport network (train), spend some time in
Fremantle, with many historic buildings, the gaol, markets and warves. Very historic area, great food and cafes also. Micro breweries are prolific, producing some fantastic ales, and also happens to be the home of the dockers ;).
Guildford is accessable by train on the midland line, with plenty of old buildings and history, having been one of the earliest settled colonies on the Swan. If you enjoy wine, wine tours are prolific through the swan valley. A google would produce a swag of operators. Go for a walk through King's
Park i the evening, spectacular
views of the city and river, and has the war
memorial.
There are many visitor centres, who have maps available of the metro areas, some with self guided tours that take into concideration people like yourself.
All the best, hope you enjoy your stay, and make sure you have your shots, dont want any of those eastern state nasty's being let loose in the west.
