Thanks everyone for the suggestions about my problem posted yesterday.
All very helpful and it looks like the car is not really suitable for towing my van.
Loaded weight is about 2800 and I think it is jus a bit heavy for the 3Litre.
Bloody good site this.

HI Bill,
I would research the 4.2 Patrol option thoroughly before entering into this vehicle for your requirements also. It does have it's own pitfalls and a search of the archives on this site will bring up months of reading (not all of it favourable) to help in any decision making.
Like anything, there is positives and negatives to each vehicle, just so long as there is more positives for your purpose I think you are on the right track.
