Hi guys
I have noticed a few of you have websites for documenting your trips and photos and such. I have found them to be a wealth of information and a great read.
I was after a bit of advice on setting one up as well or where I could start.
Thanks

I have also been looking at doing this same thing. As a matter of interest, I received Fax yesteday from a Co. called Domain Names. There pricing is very cheap but I am not sure what they offer. You can check there website www.DomainNames.com.au

This company is the cheapest I know about.
" target="EOF" class="lbg">www.ovh.com/en/ovh/

Only prob is, it's in France. You can still use them from here though. They have an option on their page to choose the language you want to work in.

You will have a site included in the package you purchased from your ISP....So you end up with your connection, an email addy or three and a web space. These are much better than the free services I know of including Geocities as the page/pages can be built from scratch and you can really have some fun however Geocities does make it all to easy to build a fantastic website for a novice site builder.

I use both MD Webhosting and Doteasy as they have now come to the land down under - just got a great deal from doteasy on the domain name and hosting for the next two years.

I just use the free space that comes with the ISP. And am now on my third web page....
This latest one is extremely simple, just edited in Word and linkout to photobucket.com for the pics.
My last two were built with Front Page Express and were quite ok. I just decided to do something simple for this one and so haven't bothered with any fancy stuff.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Brian

Hi Brian
Read your september trip, was a great read. We have done a lot of camping in the gulf region and would have like to shared our experiences that way. Hence the interest in the website idea.

Thanks Newto....

I suppose it all depends on how computer friendly you are, or are prepared to be. I sorta know my way around my pc, but there are guys here on EO who would run rings around me. But the little bit I know, I have learnt fairly easily and it's not too hard to learn.

I started by typing up the trip story you just read and saved it as a HML document in Word. It's then a matter of adding links to other pages, or links to things like photobucket etc.... Picasa is another very user friendly picture host site that is free.
Links are easy once you have learnt how to add them. In Windows XP, highlight the text for the link and hit ctrl + k and a link box will appear to help you on your way..... it takes a bit of noodling to get it right, but pretty soon you will have a half decent page ready to put on the 'net.

Where are you located?

Cheers

Brian
