Agree..

Hideous is being kind word.
:-(

At least the old one DID fill the screen at any resolution, this one looks like one of those old cheap B Grade movies with a squashed screen. Theres at least inch and half on each side of the screen now wasted.

Retravision in the West have 19" LCD's for $299 - trouble is I bought a 17" from them 4 weeks ago for the same price - its a constant "catch-up game" with computer technology and I don't think we the consumer is ever going to win.

Hey so we have to scroll across the screen - they keep telling us we need more exercise - so exercise you right arm - reach across and sroooooooooool.

I thought I had a browser problem to start as bits seem a bit cut off height wise. Lost my red members bar too. I agree with the suggestion it looks insipid.

Am using Opera now as my browser, close to where Internet Explorer 7 is headed but wonder why some things seem to overlap others. Back on Opera, I wonder why Microsoft use bloatware. I used Mozilla before but prefer Opera being so taylorable.

Not having a problem with my 12" screen.

I agree John, it does look insipid.
I'll have to bring some classical records with me in a couple of weeks as I must need some culcha as I don't have any Opera or even Operetta's on my browser.
I think Microsoft uses bloatware because they realise that it matches most of it's users girthline. Mine especially. I didn't realise that Internet Explorer 7 was going anywhere. Is it just for a holiday or for a longer time. Do you know when it will be back? :))))))))))

"bubble over with excitement....." hummm, not sure about that. Have I been like that in a long time I wonder?

Cya in 20 or so, but yes bring some classical music. May have to listen to some over the UHF as other have at times.

MS IE7 apparently has tabbed browsing and moving to a few niceties that Opera has. I was amazed at the size of the file to load it in comparison to others. Opera is faster to load and pages seem so too..

Sorry, its crap.

Why have a webpage that is crammed in the middle of the screen, with blank edges.

Now everything is smaller, you have to scroll more etc. Very busy in the middle of the screen only. I run a 19" LCD at 1280x1024, so its hardly a big resolution.

I don't mind the look, just please make it use the entire screen. No blank white space, everyone buys bigger screens to fit more on for a reason.

David et al,

On IE7, running 1680 x 1050 (maxed out) the header bar does not line up ie the dropdown menu is too far right, forum column not lining up with header etc. Otherwise, the main columns are good.

Yes header is to far to the right, not lining up.

Also missing the vertical dividers between SHOP and TREKS and PLACE and DIRECTORY.

Otherwise its seems quite clean to the eye in my view anyway.
I do have 60mm of white space down either side of my 17" wide screen which takes a bit to get used to.

Thanks for the feedback, it appears that your machine is caching the old menu.

To fix this, do a <CTRL> - Refresh - that is hold down the Control Key and hit the refresh button on the browser.

Damian,

Tried this, still doesn't work. Definitely a new menu..... I've gone backwards and thrown the screen to 1024x768 resolution and the DHTML menu script is still not doing something that it should. Even though it should be centring it within the 1000 pixel (?) specs for the site, it isn't......could be something to do with the new version, as even Firefox is showing the same.

Is it me or does the V5 menu script state "itemwidths" adding up to more than 1000 pixels wide? Just a thought.

Andrew,

This is what it should look like and has been tested on Firefox and Internet Explorer.

!MPG:3!

It may be some other form of proxy caching that is delivering the old menu, give it a day or two to see if any proxies flush out the cache. Other than that very confusing....

(I'll add my 2c, - go back to 100% width - wasted space along both sides sucks.)

These negative chappies either have inferior equipment or don't know how to use the equipment they have got, which is the case with a lot of things in life for some people.

Hi Bigears,
I don't mind it so much, except for the column not lining up with the header and having to scroll across, bit like other things that change I suppose, I actually like "Nude Nut" better but learnt to live with "MN1".

From a web usability perspective, if the centre column could resize to the available space, it would be much easier on the eyes on larger resolution monitors. I run 1400 x 1050 on this laptop and it's squished in the middle on both IE 6 and FireFox 2.0. White padding on either side is fine on a brochure-ware type of site where it's graphics intensive, but on a forum - sorry, it needs to be full screen.

The built in spell checker is nice - however it appears to be using a US English dictionary, not an AU English one - US spellings are acceptable but AU spellings are not. E.g. center vs centre - the latter comes up with an incorrect spelling.

Oh, wait - the spell checker is a Firefox 2.0 feature! I had installed FF2 about 10 mins before writing my post.

Perhaps if you try the "British - English" (is there any other!?) Firefox 2 download that may improve things? Let me know if you do and it does, please?

"...Perhaps if you try the "British - English"..."

You end up with a pound sign where the dollar sign should be above the numeric "4".....

Does the British one have proper spelling?

You can always enter a $ sign (do you do that much in Firefox?) by holding down the "Alt" key and typing 36 on the numeric keypad.

Actually I'm surprised Firefox remaps the keyboard, it should just accept the standard Windows map?

Just installed the en-GB version - doesn't appear to have the spell checker feature at all! Might have to read up on the features.

What I meant was that the spellchecker is a feature - but even when activated, it doesn't appear to work.

Damian, David, Michelle and team. I've got to put in my oar. Good old ExplorOz just doesn't seem the same in such a blue mood. Also it is too wide for my screen, and if i change resolution, it will muck up every thing else i do. Oh for the green green grass of home.
