After the crop of new light 4x4's that look like the illegitimate product of a union between Salvadore Dali and Darth Vader, (Hylux, Triton) Ford has gone the other way with the Courier replacement. Apparently they tried to make it look more like a small F truck.

Australian stock is due in November (My local dealer is keen to sell me one after I wouldn't buy a Triton)

Engines are interesting, made By VM of Italy and on paper pretty competitive with what's out there.

Oz will get 2.5 in 2wd and 3.0 in 4wd.

What do you all think?

BTW I have no association with Ford, just interested in something other than Japanese styling

Seems to lack any sort of visual appeal whatsover, should suit the grey army.

“Seems to lack any sort of visual appeal whatsoever:” > Visual appeal, what like the new Hi-lux LOL

I think the 3.0ltre diesel looks good> better then the current Nissan, Toyota and Mazda range anyway

I personally like it better than the courier just from the few photos on the website and would consider buying the 4WD “High rider” duel cab XLT with the 3.0ltre if I was in the market, I wonder if they will have a petrol engine option in Australia.

I don’t think this is a new model The U.S probably already have it and Ford AUS are just importing the right-hand drive ones so I don’t think there will be too many surprises.

Cheers.

It looks like a ford escape front end, still boring, but much better than the current courier.
One good thing about the ute i see is that it has a rear brake balancer and the technology has stepped up from the last model.

I'd say they'll have to make the ute have more recreational appeal when it comes to Australia for it to sell well in the aussie ute market.

The hilux is still a better ute,,,, lol
