Tis not nice to change the "look" halfway through a read ,hit the refresh due to a wobble and this is the result ,almost a heart attack ,spilled my scotch and lucky not to need a change of underwear , ,,lots better now than this mornings waste of space.

Hi David,
My laptop runs 1680x1050 (Dell 6400 15.4in) and there is 6cm of unused space either side of the website graphics. The same goes for the two websites you suggested above.
1024x768 is what my old laptop used to run (HP 14.1in). It would be 3 years old this month. so I changed back to that resolution momentarily and it looked awful. However it did appear to fill the screen.
Having the site change itself to suit the users screen would be a great change. Of all the computers we have at work and home only two run 1024x768 (eight computers).

You call it good work, I can't see the good point of it.
Tell me why I have to scroll sideways to read this website.
I'm a member for several years and would like to express my disappointment in this action taken by explore-oz.
To tell you why ???. Very simple.
This is the first website which I use that has changed there set-up, to make me scroll sideways each time I like to read any report or
forum.
I noticed some people like to tell me that I have to buy a bigger monitor, which is B.S. in my opinion, because I don't have any problems with any other website whatsoever.
Everybody can express his or her opinion that is fair enough.
I don't have a problem with that at all.
But something that hits me is that some people call us whingers and some of them are not even members.
I call them hypocrites.
Wayne don't get me wrong, I don't mean to critice you on your opinion because that is your right, which I respect.
The only thing I hope is that explore-oz changed back to the old size, because I'm not planning to scroll each day to read a report.
For the members who support me in this, I would like to say " LET ME HEAR YOUR VOICES " and stamp on the floor.
Cheers; Heinz

Heinz,
You need a minimum horizontal screen resolution of 1024 pixels. I just dropped
mine back to 800 x 600 tocheck and then you will have to scroll sideways.
Still I like the new format and haven't used a screen resolution that low for years. My current monitor is a 17" CRT that I picked up at a second hand computer
shop in North
Adelaide for $45
Cheers
Pete

Heinz,
Sorry you are having problems, as others have stated you must be using an 800x600 screen resolution. We have decided to increase our base size standard as
well over 98% of browser sessions are using this level of resolution and of the ones that are not we are sure the computer is capable to displaying the result.
I am working to see if I can adopt a method to change the width based on your computer selection (as this is relevant to PDA, WAP and mobile phone users) however we needed to get the new builds released to gauge perception. At this stage we have 2 people who have reported this issue and one of these has since changed the display properties on their computer and the issue went away, in fact they are really happy as they have now seen a load of things that they used to miss in the right hand margin.
As a
test can you please try www.ninemsn.com.au or www.yahoo.com and let me know if these show you scroll bars or not. Also can you just confirm for me the display settings on your computer? (Use control panel - display and select the settings tab and tell me what it says under resolution and weather you can increase it to 1024x768) - If the computer is less than 5 years old you should have not problems in making this setting. Anyway let me know and we will see what we can do to help.

David,
I can change the screen resolution to 1024x768 but it is of absolutely no use to me as it makes the text way to small for me to be able to read properly.
And because I'm to lazy to scroll sideways unless I want to read a tread I for one am not going to see the ads on the right side of the page, To me that is potentual revenue you could miss out on.
Just my thoughts
Regards
John

Correct Number 1, Eric you can adjust the font DPI settings in Advanced. It would default to 96DPI change it to say 110 or 125DPI and the icons and fonts will get a little larger. I would also suspect that you are looking at a 15" screen - It may be time to look at a larger 17 or 19" screen as I can tell you that most of the Internet is moving to 1024x768 as the minimum standard. You only need to look at the large media companies they have all made the changes.
I am working to see if I can detect the resolution and adjust the site to suit however this may take a few days and may not yield a perfect result.

I actually had written the new thread view last night (2Am this morning) and did not have enough time to debug it - then this morning a conference call for 2 hours slowed me down.
We are working to re-build al pages to support the new standard.
Take care have a good weekend - I am doing some paving this weekend (NICE)....

pls send screen grabs to David via EMAIL for genuine fix resolutions to browser incompatibility issues. More than happy to get any
feedback of this nature - if you already are running the minimum resolution of 1024 width.

Much better, much 'cleaner' which equals easier to read. Appears to be quicker to load, scroll, etc.
Top job, team.
BUT
tell me, how do I make the thread window open to a full size screen?
Currently I have to un 'minimize' it so I can rad the thred without using a scroll bar.
Thanks

Rick,
Have a read of this thread. It has something to do with resolution size.
However I would wait for a while. The page might come back to it's normal size over the next couple of days.
I am not a PC guru and a lot of what they say about computer stuff goes straight over my head. Maybe that is why I am losing so much of it.I am lucky that I have a 13 year old who knows everything about computers.

I like this new look, but I'd like to be able to choose what size font I would like.
Saves having to scroll down so much. Everything is very verbose "asked for information on" - what value does that bring? Why is the date so important as to be such a big font and making the header so large?
Anyway - that's ma 2c worth, but it's Dave's baby ...
Cheers
Andrew.
