Hi to everyone out there, just wondering if any one has fitted a airflow snorkel to a 99 gu patrol (TD4.2) I am in the process of getting one seeing i almost had a little bit of water go into my intake to the turbo.
Has any one had any problems with this brand either fitting then or when there in use?

Any information would be helpfull thanks for your time

Had a Safari installed on a 01 GU by a large 4wd retailer. The Safari is joined in the middle inside the guard. 1 month after the installation I noticed a rattle. Pulled the wheel arch guard out and found the two halves not connected. Not good.

I now have a 4.2 05 with a TJM which has one solid piece under the guard installed by a local bloke I found after asking around.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kayne,

We have an Airtec fitted to our 99 2.8 (converted to 4.2td) GU. There was an issue with the silicone adhering to the smooth plastic between the snorkel entry into the engine bay and the aircleaner but a bit of sandpaper, metho and new silicone fixed that (was fitted by a major 4wd accessory company BTW).

If you get one fitted, always check the connections afterward (preferably a couple of weeks after installation when the silicone has cured but before a major river crossing) to see if it is still sealed as vibration can cause the different sections to move and break the silicone seal.

A good check is to put your hand over the snorkel intake and see if the engine "chokes" due to air starvation. Also the aircleaner boxes do have drain holes etc. so it pays to check these for size and if filled with silicon etc as it is no point having a snorkel if there is a drain hole in the bottom of the aircleaner that allows water to enter (as the GU has).

Regards
David

Fitted a Safari to my GU few weeks ago.. Very easy job..

I think the Safari looks much better than the Airtek...

which every you go with, check the fittings in the inner guard.. make sure they are sealed well.

I think the Airflow snorkles look cheap. I personally have a Safari and other friends have Airtec(Nissan). I would pick one of those 2.
