Heefers
Afternoon All,
Just wondering what you guys use to provide positive ventilation to your canopies in order to keep out dust and exhaust fumes without letting rain in. P.S not real keen on the "periscope" looking yacht vents that were pictured in the archive search.
My Staffy thanks you in advance
Cheers, Heefers

I have the same as djm but will still let the dust in if Im not the one out front, I have put some extra sealing around my rear tailgate and seems to work very
well, I found before most of my dust coming in was from around the
gate but now very little if any gets in and thats with the vent kept shut as some times I forget to shut it and when it rains
well you know the outcome, so now virtually dont use it. Regards Steve M

Found the best thing is a hole with cover over it with the opening at the bottom, fit a 12 volt fan with a car air filter in place it will give filtered air & it will keep the canopy pressurised even when stopped should be able to make for under $100
i use a small jap car radiator Elec fan & Holden air filter with a alloy cover thru the base of the head board even works
well when i have a rag canopy, helps keep the dust out & the back cooler, helps the fridge too

I don't own a ute , but is there a way to put a pipe or hose from the cabin into the rear?
I am thinking possibly a grommet in the floor pan somewhere and attach a hose to take air into the rear to pressurise it a bit.
Maybe a small fan to boost it through the pipe into the rear.
Most coaches that do a bit of outback work have a fan under one of the seats blowing air from the cabin into the luggage area to stop dust getting sucked in and all over the luggage.
Most of the time we travel with the a/c on and I think maybe that would provide enough air to go through to the rear.

Mines a solid aluminium canopy - if the side doors are sealed, and theres no rear door, then you won't get any dust.
If you're talking about canvas, then an opening flap at the top, front on each side works
well on a friend's canopy. Need to close it when it rains, but then you won't get dust anyway!
