Can they, or can't they......the drivers seat belt on the Troopy is very slow to retract.......bit like me I guess,,lol.

Can they be adjusted??

I know that they have marked on them 'do not remove'.....but car manufacturers have been known to tell a few porkies.

Anyone with any ideas???

Cheers

Michael, AFIK you cannot adjust or retension them.
Not sure I would trust it if I had a go at pulling it apart and fiddling with it.
It seems to be a bit of a problem with some Jap belts that they don't recoil very well after a few years.
I think the only solution is a new belt if it's a PIA getting caught in the door.

Thanks Dave,

Guess I am looking for confirmation of my own opinions.

Nothing worse than taking something apart and having heaps of stuff flying around the shed........and having no idea where it all belongs......LOL LOL

Thanks

Someone will scream if this is a no-no, but if I had a problem like this, I'd give it a good dose of silicone spray and see if it helps. Lots cheaper than buying a Nissan (as if you'd want to!!).

Interested to know how you went with it Slammin.

Don't think it would work with the Troopy 'cos the plastic covers on each end seem to be well and truly fixed in place:(((

Michael, the really interesting bit will be trying to find the time LOL!

I'm scheduling it for this week, if i have luck I'll post it here.

I would say tho' that if your covers are permanent then more than likely mine will be too...

Cheers,

The drivers side belt does this on a regular basis on mine.
Find the top loop/guide gets a bit dirty and just needs a clean and lube.

Yeah, tried that Oldplodder, guess I'll have to mortgage the dog and buy a new seat belt from our friendly.....but expensive.....Tojo outlet.

Gidday Michael,
sorry for the late reply on this.My troopy belts did the same thing and a good wash helped greatly although it was never perfect. I had the old belts rebuilt with new webbing by a seatbelt company in Perth. The cost was $260.00 for 2 belts and now they work a treat.A lot cheaper than $380.00 each from toyota.

Thanks Terryfied,

Might end up checking all the options.

It is 'sort of OK' but have to remember to feed it back each time I get out.....is a real PITA tho'.

Pax side seems OK.

Have not priced a new one.......yet. Will see how we go.

Cheers
