Evening all

Does anyone have any idea how much a new clutch plate will set me back for a 4.5 Patrol manual? My clutch started slipping over the weekend and I am guessing I will need a new plate?

Thanks

Hi Troll

I'm not sure if this would help, but you could try Don Kyatt Spares this is link to contact details

I have found them great for Toyota new parts for sometimes half the dealer price, dunno if they do Nissan as well but maybe worth a call.

Cheers
John

have a look on OL, but at a guess about $700 for clutch...
have pressure plate checked, and then more if needed.

Go with a Dakin heavy duty job .

You should get a new pressure plate with the clutch kit.

It's the flywheel you need to check and if there are ANY doubts, (And I would do it anyway) get it machined.

A Heavy duty clutch will get you back between $550 and $650 for a decent one. Plus fitting and machining expect it to come up to about the grand.
I've heard of some blokes getting it done for around the $800 mark fitted. But you don't want a no-name brand clutch put in.

If it stuffs up it can be a costly experience to pull out and put back in.

Hasthe slipping clutch got anything to do with all the mud you wee playing in Troll, i just read your other post. Maybe the clutch is a bit wet, might dry out and be ok. But i wouldnt be paying $700 for a clutch and then more if it needs a pressure plate. I am sure you would be able to find a complete clutch kit (pressure plate, clutch plate and thrust bearing) for about half that, and would also put a new spigot bearing in too will cost about $10. Try your local brake and clutch specialist.

Andrew I was hoping it had something to do with that but I don't think so it's been doing it 24 hours later now...maybe it's full of mud or something. I didn't play in the mud for long, I promise :)

I would keep trying/hoping for the mud prob.
I was in GQ with a 350chv when it got a bath in mud at Purnie bore.
Next day clutch was cactus and we got real worried. Slipping like crazy. Decided to limp to Alice. On the way thought, Stuff it, we'll burn her out. Tried real hard to spin the wheels etc and finally the clutch gripped better and better.
The heat from caning it dried it out.
Once we realised the problem it was easy enough to clean it out and be on our way with confidence.
Had it checked at Alice though, but all was fine.
Fingers crossed!

Hey Troll, not 100% sure about the setup on a patrol, but you should either be able to take the rubber boot off around the clutch fork, or take the tin flywheel cover plate off the the bottom of the bell housing. Hope this helps.
Cheers, Andrew
