Does the air precleaner on some 4.2 diesel GQ's actually do anything? I have heard about people removing them and having no problems. I will be putting a
snorkel on my GQ and wondering whether to remove the precleaner or not. Advice is appreciated.

Another question please, would a
snorkel from a MQ Patrol fit a GQ? They seem to go a shorter distance on the outside of the guard and look better. I know the two models have the same body but i want to be sure.
Thanks

Mine was removed when the Safari Snorkle was fitted. Doesn't seem have had any detrimental effect. When travelling on overgrown tracks I do get a bit of leaf litter accumulating in the aircleaner body and check it regularly. The filter stops any ingress of foreign matter however.

I think you'll find the MQ one is shorter than the GQ because the air filter sits higher and up the back of the engine bay in the MQ, where the GQ air intake is towards the front behind the headlight. Cheers...

that's true black but a little length of tubing inside the guard can fix that. do you know if the MQ
snorkel will fit the GQ? the GQ has flared guards too. i can't just go down to ARB or tjm to have a look as i ive in the country.

Miss-dee-Loosie, an unusually short response to the owner of 'that' brand. Come come, they may develop a complex.

He's too busy concocting his "story" of the rest of his KI trip to be able to give a longer reponse to this question.................plus his knowledge level on the subject is somewhere between "nil" and "zip"......hahahahaha

I removed
mine as the outlet on the precleaner box is about 1/5th the size of the inlet.
Take it off and have a look at the squashed plastic pipe on the bottom of it..
Run a hose straight from inner guard to airbox.
I have my old one at home if anyone wants it.
