I am posting this question for a friend as he has had no success finding information anywhere.

He has rang toyota ( tecnitions and help line ) and asked if it was ok to run Bio diesel in his 93 model toyota hilux 2.8 litre diesel - NO one could give a straight answer.

we know that most vehicles after 89 can run bio diesel as they changed from rubber to viton seals but there is a little bit of a grey area as to wether the 93 model does infact have all the new style seals in the fuel pump or not

so i guess the question is does anyone here run bio in there toyota hiace (93 model)

I am currently running 80 bio 20 dino in my patrol 4.2 - i make the stuff myself and i have now found a source of 200 Litres of cooking oil per week , so wanted to share the bio with my friend. as i cant use this much for my own purpose.

so can anyone help my friend out with some answers >

I thought that the earlier 2.8 diesels engines using rubber not viton seals ended up with leaking injector pumps with the change to low sulphur diesel. This was the case with my 2.8D 3L engine in a '92 hilux. Once I had the injector pump change over done, no more leaks. I never got to try it out with bio diesel though.

If your mates injector pump has been repaired/replaced since '93, ii my have the newer type of viton seals?. I don't know if there are other seals elsewhere in a 2.8D that could be effected.
