I am considering purchasing a Storm camper (new) and would appreciate some feedback regarding satisfaction or otherwise. I will be purchasing direct from Goldstream. Look forward to helpful comments.

Had a 2000 14'6" Goldstorm. We sold it this year to move up to a full size van. It was a good van, we fitted it out with solar etc. Some of the reasons we sold it were:
1. No way could be keep dust out. No talking about a bit of dust but volumes of it, especially bulldust
2. Had to wait until later in the morning when it was wet to pack it down unless it was to be set up again pretty much straight away. The canvas sides fold down on to the bed
3. After a while we both noticed we were getting sore backs. Didn't notice it at first but everything is low down inside which requires bending to do the dishes etc
4. Camped at Phillip Island in winter with a gusty storm and we were quite concerned about how much the supports poles moved. Didn't have a problem but was worrying while it was happening
5. Found that in cold areas when using a heater the bed rails etc. dripped condensation over everything which necessitated using towels all over the place to soak up the
water.
We enjoyed the camper while we had but find the full size van so much better. The only mechanical fault we had was when the winch failed when trying to raise the van. This is a major job because the winch is incorporated inside the van body with
no access points.
Enjoy the van, like I said we did while we had it

I think it's a good designed product but check the
water proofing design near where the canvas meets the body. Heard from an ex owner a while back re a problem in this area, that's why he sold it. Can't remember exactly what the issue was but bottom line there was
water inside. If I remember correctly it appeared on recent models not on the older ones, go figure. Sorry to be a bit vague but gives you a heads up at least.

We just bought a Wing 3. Hosed it down and it didn't leak even though a lot of the
water was coming from very un-rain like directions. Can't say much else cause we are having our first outing in it next weekend.
Cheers, Nige

Hi Tails,
we have a goldstream off road camper and could not be happier, ours is a goldwing and was new in 98.
We have towed ours all over the place including
Cape York and across the Simpson and it has performed flawlessly. We used to get a minor amount of dust in the van but i have since run some foam gasket around the top of the bottom half where the canvas meets the metal only about 5mm x 5mm all the way around and have not had dust ingress since have also never had
water in the van or a problem with condensation although others i know have.
We are very happy with ours and although you pay more for them than a Jayco they seem to have a better finish in the cupboards exctra and are not as flimsy or at least to my untrained eye.
All the best

Here's a thought. Check out the trading post on line to find out how your resale will go.
Despite the fact that they are around $5000 dearer than a Jayco new, the secondhand price is similar.
Whilst there is some opinion that the Goldstream is a better camper than the Jayco, the second hand market doesn't hold this opinion. You're going to have to sell it one day. How much do you want to lose?
ATB,
Jim.
