Hi,

Have searched through the archives to try and find out if Camper Trailers are suitable for Lake Jasper (South West of WA). Only posts relate to nearby Black Point.

I am interested in knowing if anyone has been down to Lake Jasper recently and what the condition of the track in from the Highway is like, (one over the wooden bridge capable of taking 3 Toyota's!!!!!)

Are the camp sites at Lake Jasper suitable for Camper trailers etc.

Otherwise does anyone know of any good Bush Camp Spots around that area.

Thanks

Cruiser

Hi Cruiser,
I have taken my camp trailer in to lake jasper .There is campsites suitable for trailers but are limited but there would be approx 4 i think suitable at the top of camp groud over looking lake. There was one not very responsible camper who drove his 100 series with kimberly camper behind down boat ramp and around through reeds and up on to the grassed beach area .The rangerwould have something to say if he was caught. There is others down below but not much shade. The track is very sandy at this time of year ,drop your pressures no probs.
It is a magic spot ,locals water ski and take boats and generally have a great time.
Enjoy

Hi Cruiser,

One of our members goes down that way regularly. I'm told that Lake Jasper is a nice spot but he prefers to camp along the river on the Heartbreak Trail. The campsites there are in the forest and are campertrailer friendly with canoeing straight off the riverbank beside you.

As per Kimbo's post, you might find the WA-Campertrailer list of interest so drop in if you like...

Cuiser
Was down there a fortnight ago. Track in off the main road was in fair condition. Let your tyres down and you wont have too much trouble. Then the track off the main track that goes into the lake is narrow and hilly but OK. Some of the camp sites are suitable for trailers. When you get to the CALM information bay veer left up a short but steep hill and you will find a spot. (maybe walk up first - only 200/300 metres. The sites are all bollarded which generally only caters for those who can take everything out of the car , lift it over the bollards to set up camp. One day CALM might realise there other set ups such as camper trailers and those who have tents off the back of the car in this world.

It is a great place for a quiet get away. Make sure you go around onto the beach at the lake.(Turn right past the information sign) Beautiful white sand and great for swimming.

Lake Jasper is, in part, a designated water ski area - ie people tow boats in! The track (Scott Rd from Vasse Hwy end) is easy..there are a few soft bits plus a few little lumps/hills to negotiate. As mentioned before let your tyres down when needed and you will cruise in. Apart from designated camp area you are also allowed to camp on a section of the lakes shoreline (continue past camping area) - great if not too windy - plenty of room. Have fun.
