Camp/o/matic 06 set up for the Cape.

I have recently returned from Pormpuraaw with a camper and boat about the same size as yours. One problem that I did not expect was a loss of preload on the wheel bearings. The bearings were repacked and adjusted before the trip so I knew there had to be a problem somewhere. Before I readjusted the bearings I removed the washer beneath the castle nut and realized it had bent into a concave shape and that this had caused the loss of preload. I have since replaced with grade eight high tensile washers which are about 4mm thick. Some of the corrugations were severe and this combined with the extra pitching of the trailer caused by the weight of the boat would have placed enormous load on the standard washers causing them to bend. Could be worth checking on your camper.

I towed an m3 up the cape and across the gulf in July. Mostly all good. Ours was running 265/75/16 lt tyres, and in the rain it was dangerous.
I would recommend a set of cheese cutter 16's or mudders as trailer tyres.
I must admit the rain was unseasonal, but 650kms down the developmental road to normanton which was mostly underwater was not fun. Having the trailer spin the car around at will was not a fun experience.
The tyres were all terrain, and we were travelling with another family with a leaf sprung soft top camper running similar tyres who had much less probs than us. It appeared that with the independent suspension and the at's, the camper could hit a hole on one side, get unsettled and drag the car around, sometimes through 180 degrees. All this and travelling at maybe 30-40 kms/hr.

Definitely recommend some tyres with bite.
