Looks like you had a great trip. Thanks for sharing your photos. How was the Uluru climb? Someone we met on our travels said it was the highlight of their 2 year trip around the block, and to do it sooner than later (we were creaking and groaning on a climb at
Wilpena Pound at the time), as it is quite strenuous. I have been trying to work out how we can get away to Central Australia for a holiday at at time of the year when it will be cool enough to climb. Other travellers have told us that it is nothing spectacular when you get there, and not worth worrying about.

Thanks Jiarna and Motherhen,
Motherhen, the climb was hard work on the part that is in the photo but as long as you go along slowly and stop as many times as you need, you will be fine. Once you get to the top of the chain it's just a walk, clamber up slopes and down the other side. It's not as difficult or stressful as the chain as you never feel like you could fall. The main thing is to do it at your pace, listen to how you feel and rest accordingly.
Now, as for "its not worth worrying about"...
well that's not true as far as we are concerned. Uluru is fascinating and no matter how "commercial" the surrounds get, nothing can take away from its beauty and uniqueness. The same goes for
Kata Tjuta. Climb or not climb Uluru, it's up to you..but go and see for yourself.
All the best
Viv

Good Viv, I am sure next time you do a report it will have the pictures set in to the words providing an illustrated report. You are getting on top of that computer knowledge thing pretty
well.

Thanks John,
A report with photos is my aim...I just have to learn how to do it. It's fun trying though.

Hi Viv
Nice photos. Like all photos it brings back the memories of a great time had.
I am busy scanning a round 5000 slides to digital format at the moment and am reliving all those magnificent trips we have done over the years. I will choose the best from each State, Territory and O'seas adventures for my website within a few months(have scanned 2000+ so far. It is a long haul at 4 per scan...lol)
I climbed Uluru on New Years Day 1979 after a hard night at the pub. Didn't think of taking
water with me but found pools near the top to drink from which did save the day. The view is stunning from the top.
Cheers

Thanks Willem,
You've set yourself a very big task with your slides to digital, but I imagine that you're getting so much enjoyment, a lot of laughs and good memories. It's going to give a lot of others enjoyment too when it's on your website.
all the best

Thanks Bonz,
Going across the
Gary Junction Track was one of the big highlights of our trip and like you said, seeing the pictures makes me want to go back out there too. To do each of the Beadell tracks is one of our aims..he certainly was an interesting and intrepid man.
Thanks for the nice words and I'm glad you enjoyed the photos.
It was good to meet you at the 4x4 Show last week end and hope to catch up again one day.
