we have a customer who was complaining of a vibration type noise at around 100ks.not to loud ect but just enough to annoy.
took it for a drive and seemed to sound a little and feel like mud type tyres on the road.
we swapped
wheels with a set we have in stock and noise/vibration was still there
my boss was talking to someone at the 4wd show last weekend and they said to him yes weve come accros is quite a few times.
undo rear taleshaft and turn it around(swap diff end to gearbox end)that should fix it.
tried it yesterday and yep it worked.noise/vibration gone.
cheers

Does this mean that you'll now get the vibration if you go 100ks in reverse? :-)

Now that's very co-incidental. I was taking the "Chevyssan" back to Brunswick Diesels just 2 days ago (a few minor warranty jobs) when my GU did exactly as you described above.
I haven't driven this monster at 110 kmh before. Only with the van on have I ever exceeded 90 kmh. This was the first time I'd ever driven solo at 110 kmh and sure enough this strange, drumming vibe came in at 105 kmh and disappeared at 112kmh! There was no steering wheel wobble that would indicate an out of balance wheel. The vibe was coming through the floor and nowhere else. You could feel the floor pan drummming through yer feet. I couldn't recreate the vibe when I was returning to
Perth in the truck.
I'll try switching the prop shaft around if the vibe is gonna be a permanent feature.
Thanks,
Bilbo
