Hi All
Just bought a TD 100 series L/C and was wondering if anyone had a safari snorkel fitted and if so have you noticed any induction noise? Any comments would be appreciated.
Regards
Howard

Had one on my Turbo Diesel 100 series and never noticed any induction noise. If you are yet to have it fitted, don't look when they cut that great big hole in yer wing! It's 'orrible!!

Mine whistles but not as much since I got a 3" mandrel bent exhaust fitted.

Hi Howard
I fitted a Safari Snorkel about 4 weeks ago, Have no induction noise

Took me about 1.5 hrs to fit it
Heart rate increased as i was drillind the 2 large 95mm diameter holes in the guard

Easy job if you are planning to do it your self, Just follow the instructions pretty straight forward

Go for an airtec if you are going to fit it yourself, much easier to fit than safari ,you don't have to relocate your blinker and cheaper.

If you follow the rules, safari actually make your 100 series unroadworthy as the blinkers are no longer assymetrical.(in other words the same place on both sides or the car).

Well how about that - I had my Safari fitted 5 years ago and I never realised the blinker was relocated!!! Just went out to the garage to check. However I did not notice any noise after it was fitted - there again shmbo often says I am deaf (selective)

Asymetrical actually means not symetrical, but I digress. Anyway not sure if the rules care if the side blinkers are not even but really who cares. Not sure about the 100 but I looked at the Airtec for the 80 and decided to go the Safari.

Hi Howard,
The previous TD LC100 (may 2004) I had was fitted with a Safari snorkel by ARB in Brisbane for the dealer. I was initially very unhappy about the induction noise apparently coming from the body or head of the unit. I took it back to ARB and they agreed that the noise from 70kmph on was unacceptable in a car which was ordinarily so quiet. They had it for a few hours and tried all sorts of things before ringing me and saying it was fixed. The solution involved rotating the head inwards about maybe 5-10 degrees so that it was not parallel to the body or direction of travel. I wouldn't have believed the difference - the thing was quiet again. According to the manager it is something they often have to do but was forgotten about initially on mine. Unless you look hard at the unit you could not detect the rotation.
Suggest you try this - it is very easy to do.
Anoldbuddy.

Hi Howard ,

I have a Safari snorkel on my 100 TD and I can sometimes here a bit of induction noise - but you have to really be waiting for it with the window open when you accelerate .

When I use the Donaldson pre-cleaner on it , I get a lot of noise , but after I while , I don't notice it .

Cheers ,

Willie .
