Hi Guys,
I want to fit dual batts and looking at the engine bay I've got 2 choices either where the fuel filter sits and move the filter or chop the air intake in front of the filter but there is a electrical plug of some sort just in front of the filter and l don't know what that does.
I have acquired a large battery to use so I think it would fit better in front as there is more head room.
Is there anyone out there that has already done this?

Thanks, Athol

Hey athol,

I had my second battery factory fitted in an 06 navara. They put it where the fuel filter is........ Now the fuel filter is attached to the battery holder

Hi Athol

You will need to move the fuel filter.

Battery is a 10 inch.

Derek.

I had my second battery fitted by a local ARB agent in Wonthaggi. He did a good job. Now the ARB kit works well and is situated up bu the bonnet hinge, at the Firewall, just beside the TURBO .
Thats where the problem begins and ends ,,, it is really too close to the turbo, and I have to forever keep topping up the battery, and on my last trip up into the desert, I actually boiled it twice..I expext a short battery life, 2 years at best .

Got chatting this fella in Alice Springs, who also had a Navara, showed me his setup ,,, Brilliant but it costs a few extra $$$$
He had a Gel battery behind the wheel arch, in a bolt down cover.
As it was in a position for easy access, near the tailgate, all he had to do was to open his cannopy, and it was there
He also has an Anderson plug setup and longer than normal jumper leads ( truck ones I think )
He expects to get a full 4-5 years out of this battery,, so the cost is justifyed
Cheers Mate

Athol,

A few months ago just before I took delivery of my D40, there was a guy(retailer) on a forum(not sure if it was this one) that was fitting an extra battery to the D40, underneath the vehicle.

The setup looked very impreesive and simple. He sent me some pics of the setup, however regretfully I have deleted them. From memory the cost was around the $900.00 mark, which turned me off the idea.

Hopefully he may be watching this forum.
