G,day everyone
Has enyone ever had an air bag light stay on on their dash before? If you have what did you do to get it off???
The viechle is a 1994 honda accord, my missus car not
mine. The owners manual says take it to your dealer but if theres an easier or cheaper way It would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
Cheers Luke

Tke it to your dealer. You start playing with the wrong things and KABOOM ! off goes the airbag.

Yes take it to the dealer is the only way to get it reset, short of taking the Globe out LOL.
They will plug it into their computer and it will tell them why it came on.
Cheers.

I had the same problem with a Rover in the UK, I think Hona and Rover were the same vehicle with different badging. It wa a real pain, had it back to the dealer several times and they replaced parts but never solved the problem. Finally wrote of the vehicle in a prang.

We had the same thing on a magna. Airbag light was always on- the dealer said it would not blow out randomly and gave a guess of a few grand to fix it so we just left it as is. The car got stolen a few years later and written off- I never found out if it did work or not.

Don't even think about trying to fix it yourself. I have seen the results in hospital (ICU) of someone that had their head against the steering column on the bag when it went off. Not a pretty sight. They are designed to expend most of their energy in the first few milliseconds, growing the bag until it normally hits your chest at the end of the expansion of gasses from the charge cannister. You can imagine being hit with the full force of the charge at point-blank range (equivalent of hitting concrete at 30 mph apparently).

SRS light being on can indicate one of two things. First could be fault with the air bag deployment system, second could just be a fault with the lamp circuit and it has to be re-set. Usually this can only be done with a lap top plugged into the vehicle electronic management system which tells the operator what fault code is causing the problem. Sometimes a flat battery will cause the system to indicate a fault and it has to be re-set as above.
