Hi all
Part of our trip plans for next year include a stay at
Innamincka for a few nights in early May. Where is the nicest place to
camp with a self contained offroad caravan - Town Common,
Policeman's waterhole or
Ski beach ???
Cheers
Darryl

My preference would be
Cullyamurra Waterhole. About 14km out of town but lots of great waterview sites.

I have stayed at
cullyamurra waterhole and the town common, My preference now would be the town common as it is within walking distance to the Trading Post and the Pub. From this
campsite you can visit
the Dig Tree and all the other significant sites whithout having to drag the van around. While you are there do not miss the Sunday Night roast at the pub. Great meal with that bush atmosphere.

Darryl,
The Town Common is the place that I always
camp.
Not far from the town, you are on the
Cooper Creek and the afternoon river Cruise is very good if you are into bird life and history of the area.
The Pub is going to be rebuilt. I am not sure when it will be done but hopefully it will be finished before May next year.

Yep - love the Cooper - Ski, Policemans, Cully are all good - the main issue is
water levels I suppose - the Cully is never very low - its deep and long and you can only cross on foot at the ends - if the
water is down a bit - you can often jump across in various
places down by Ski etc - we are into walking, so this matters to us.

Hi Darryl
Just got back from
Innamincka and found that all of the
camping areas are ok.
We stayed at
Ski Beach because it had better shade and access to the
Creek.

Thanks all for your replies - at least it sounds like there are no dud
places of those listed. Will check out the
waterhole as
well.
Cheers

Just check passes.
I think the town common doesn't require a SA desert parks pass, while the other
camp sites do.
Sometimes if we are just travelling through and stopping for a couple of days we
camp at the common. Saves organising a pass.
Others might have more info. Been a while since I checked it.

Three times I've been through have been school hols. Found the Town Common very crowded the first time and camped at Cullymurra
Waterhole the other two times and found it great with not too many people. Never tried Policeman's or
Ski Beach.

Hi Dazmit,
If you are there for few days, take a run out to Congie Lakes for part of the time. Not sure what the
water level will be like, depends on rain and this year has been a shocker in the country around
the desert.
Cheers
