I run 36psi around town as I felt the higher pressures harshened the ride (about to get HD springs fitted so now it's moot!). No noticeable tyre wear other than normal.

Thinking of trying higher again though as quite a few people seem to run >38.

42psi on mine for blacktop has been the best for wear and control.

Mate, I run 42psi Front and 44psi Rear on the Black top. Running these pressures does provide a harsher ride though I have experience far better tyre wear and a generally prefer a firmer ride anyway. The tyres seem to wear a little more even.......I have had 4 sets of BFG's and every set has achieved 80000km plus.....

Yep - ditto - run mine high on the blacktop to improve life (F 36 R 40) - on my second set now - back down to around 30 at most for any stony roads, with reduced speeds of course - down around 20 or a bit less for the sandy stuff.

I always run the front tyres slightly higher because the front of most vehicles is heavier due to the weight of an engine/transmission when unladen.

If towing or carrying a heavy load I would inflate the rears to a higher psi.

Ive also found with the rear springs on my landcruiser unladen the lower psi helps with the ride

I've got 48 in the front and 50 in the back (trayback - REALLY full) Most of my driving is on gravel & I don't have any dramas, even wear & no sidewall splits.

I am running a GU IV the book says 32PSI Nissan says ignore it and run at 36 with no load. Got some advice from a tyre manufacturer a long time ago. The correct way to find out what pressure you should be running is to check the pressure when cold ie first thing in the morning. Then after travelling for at least 40K check the tyres again hot. In a car the tyre pressure should have increased by 4 PSI. If it hasn't the tyres are over inflated, if its increased by more than 4PSI then the tyres are under inflated. The 4PSI rule is for cars, for 4x4 its 6PSI.
