We posted a few weeks back on our Challenger not engaging 4wheel drive and no light coming on.
Well, the mechanic fixed it by replacing the 4 x 4 switch on top of the transmission. Engages perfectly now. Also, with the challenger the 4wheel drive light does not come on when you start the car, only when 4wheel drive engaged. As we live 450km from where we bought the car, the car yard paid our mechanic to fix it. Very Happy now.

You are fortunate to find a local mechanic who was able to track the problem, and even more fortunate to have the car yard pay!
I'd keep using that mechanic - he's a gem !
Probably even if the car yard had refused to pay, it would have been cheaper to pay yourself than drive 900k round trip plus a couple of nights accommodation, etc..

yeah, very good mechanic. the switch was $90, then labour to fit it. We rang car yard to see if they would let our mechanic fix it and they were more than happy to let that happen, when they realised we were in the country, and they also paid to have some 'o' rings replaced that had a slow leak. so all up, probably a couple hundred dollars. if they didnt let our mechanic do it, we would have paid it our self. like you said, round trip of 900km then accom etc, would have cost way more.

As Gerhardp1 said sounds like a top mechanic some times hard to find and also to the car yard for making it nice and easy for you not many that would do that either. Good ending to what could have been a pain in the rear. Glad to see the challenger is a ok. Regards Steve M

Thanks for the reply.
Will add it to the list of remedies and checks in case it happens to me.
