Doe,s any one know of a 4wd club/event that lets
young (not legal to drive) kids show/test there 4wd skills. My 12 year old has driven 4wd's for years now & has just got he's first 4wd a very rusty 84MQ patrol

I seriously doubt that in this day and age that any incorporated club would allow unlicenced drivers to participate in any of their club sanctioned events.
I am not saying that you 12 year old isnt a capable driver, it just comes down to the fact that incorporated clubs in NSW have rules and regulations that are monitored by the Dept Fair Trading and their rules simply will not allow this type of activity.
It just isnt worth it from a litigation point of view.

i was hoping that there was something in the 4wd side of things, as you can race at the speedway,Go carts, bikes & quads, you can even race boats, even in today's times of litigation these all still are operating legally

Cruiser is pretty spot on. It is an insurance (Public Liability) thing. The club of which I am a member has a couple of blocks of land used for club recreational and training purposes, but the by-laws are pretty specific in that only licensed drivers who have completed the (accredited) Recreational 4 Wheel Driving course they conduct are allowed to drive on the land.

There was a thing on 4WD TV that showed youngsters doing the mud drags and circuit work at some big get together. Sorry I can not remember how far back it was but if you lok at the web site they have previous episodes on it.
