Can someone tell me why a battery will (when being charged) spill fluid out of one top up cap only? It is not over filled however when put on a charger it will almost instantly start bubbling and fluid will overflow from that one top up hole. I will be getting another battery as this one does not seem to hold charge for more than 6 hours after which it drops to about 12.2volt s even when no load is on it.

Check each cell with a Hydrometer to check condition but I'm guessing it is RS.....

Sorry, but it's NBG.
Wet cell battery technology is now outdated, go for AGM as the replacement.
There are no spills from these, the plusses are almost endless.

Hi Robnicko
Does sound like a dead cell.
Time for a new one. Batteries are very cheap for what they are. Some people will spend more than the price of a car battery on torch and toy batteries in a year.
Buy a good one and it will be good to you. :-) If you are kind to it. LOL
Regards Derek.

Derek,
Thanks for that. The battery concerned was a PowerCrank N70 used as an auxillary battery in a Landcruiser 80. All that ran of it was a Waeco cf40 and a fluoro
camp light. It decided to play up on day 2 of a four day
camping trip in
Vic High Country over Melb Cup w/e. I have since given it a full charge overnight at home with a battery charger and it will only hold 12.4v and rapidly falls to 12.15v. I beleive 12.6 is what it should hold as a base (2.1v per cell).
Anyway I have since purchased an Exide Extreme which I have been using as a starting battery and is still doing
well after 6 years.
Thanks again
Rob
