Has anyone out there georeferenced the WA DPI Marine Charts for
Perth CD or know were these are available? I have started to do it myself but thought I would ask the question. I may publish these on ExplorOz as there does not seem to be anyone out there that has done it yet (at least according to Google).

Hello Dave - Havent got around to buying these as they dont cover south west (past Mandurah) so I dont really know the full story...But I was under the impression that they came in ecw format and expected them to have the coordinate data as part of the file as a 'header"...so just an import using the OziExplorer import ecw file would create calibration file for you ? I assume you would have tried this ...Not the case?
Cheers

Are yes - just read the web page
Site Link
and they specifically state they are not georeferenced - I will shut up now.

Greg,
No they are ecw but have no coordinates applied to the file hence import brings then in with 0 0 as the lat long. Not really that accurate!!!!
As I mentioned I have started the process as the maps have the correct (I hope) lat/long displayed on the upper right and lower left corners. It is not that hard to do just the trying to save the hour or so it will take to do the entire 27 images. However for your interest the charts seem great, will be testing out the Swan river charts this weekend (I hope) and maybe also working out were to
park to watch the stunt plane Red Bull event the week after.

Yeah I have always been interested in getting them but as mentioned they dont cover area where I hang out - dont know why not. I have actually scanned a few of the SW ones myself (for my own personal use of course) from Mandurah round to Margaret River - very handy for planning/plotting dive trips.
Cheers

Greg,
Thanks very much for loading the WA shipwreck data into the Pointplace and
Places systems this is great and I have now created a new POI type of Shipwrecks and moved the 109
places you have submitted into this new POI type. If anyone has other marine
places data or any marine plot file please let me know - david@exploroz.com.

David, I purchased the CD from the marine rego place in Essex street
Fremantle. Got it as soon as it became available.
I am using it with my OziExplorer program, plotting GPS boat tracks after the event.
I calibrated each chart as per OziExplorer instructions (4 corners + centre) and found them pretty accurate so far.
