I would expect so - even in the winter when I've been there there have been plenty of semi-permanents there and it was hard to move.

I think you can book through Ceduna Visitor Centre.

We camped there many moons ago back in 1985 and 86, first time was in Feb and next was in Sept. Main reason was surfing, spent 2 weeks there each time and as Andrew said there are a few "locals" there but the place wasn't overcrowded. At that time the caretaker would come around each after noon collecting all the bins of rubbish, and stop for a chat.
There was also a shop that opened for 2 hours a day, but this has all probably changed now.? We had a great time catching some huge salmon that were off the point too at that time of year. Try to get in for a beer at the Penong Pub too, that was an experience on its own too!cya unc

Just be well prepared for those damn sand flies. They got stuck in to me and I didn't feel good for days after.

There will be no sites left unless you do book, You could try phoning the Penong pub for info. But I dont like your chances, it gets very crowded quick.

It will be packed with surfers, the only time it is a bit quieter is when holidays are not on in winter.

If you are not a surfer its not really worth camping there, its not good for swimming due to the rips and white pointers ( sharks) . Plus the locals there do not tolerate people camping outside the designated areas.

The camp sites must be paid for everyday a few years ago it was 5.00 bucks and the caretaker will drop off firewood in winter.

It is a pretty place though it does not suit the standard tourist. depends whre you are coming from, Streaky bay or Coffins bay is much nicer.
