Was shown this little wonder recently - designed to filter the
water when filling your containers/tanks from rivers/stream/
creek.
No more gravel/stones in a bucket and trying to keep the hose in - just clip on, throw the whole lot in the
water and pump away.
All stainless steel so nice and heavy - don't know a price yet or the micron rating.
Anyone seen one before and know if they do the job.

looks the same principle as the inside of a sand spear ive been using for about 7 years now. yes and it works very
well at keeping out solids and sand. they also make one that fits on the and of a flexible hose very handy. dags

not going to pump much through a 7mm hole in a brass click fitting.
only suitable for sand as anything else will clog them and difficult to clean
mosquito fly wire makes the best screen and easy to clean
put fly wire around 400mm long 100mm plastic pipe with holes drilled and keeps all dirt out of the pump and
water
main thing is light cheap easy to clean and works

Gday John,
I bought a common under-sink charcoal canister to take the taste out of any
water I put in my
tank - cost $50 including filter and fittings from the local "freshwater"
shop. Its not designed to "filter" but it would get out anything visible. I carry it around loose.

Phil, does the charcoal canister actually get rid of that plastic taste??? I might give it a crack.
I thought I got rid of
mine, but the longer
water sits the worse it gets. Even straight from the
tank out, forgetting all hosing.
(with no intention to highjack a post btw...)

Tone, yep it does. I use it in the filling side, but it naturally works OK coming out of the
tank as
well. We also had plastic tasting
water in a new house (plastic
water pipes!) and it worked for that too.
Those canisters have a limit of 10 litres/min - the slower the flow, the better they work.
