hi all another dry hot day in peakhill nsw. been having brake light come on and alternater not charging, and to day come back from town and the brake pedal is very hard with little brakes would that be the vacume on the back of the alternater if so is there any way round it or do i need a new alternater.... cheers Bob

If you have no vacume then your vac pump is buggerd . This usually bolts on behind the altinator so it can be replaced as a seperate item. If though you have no charge either then you will have to replace both. Have you sheared the shaft ? .Allso check the break booster & lines (vac)..ps your not the guy with the motel in
peak hill ?.................666toy

Just pull the rubber hose off where it goes into booster if all ok should hear a hiss noise when you pull it off, other than that start it up then do the same thing this time placing your thumb over the end of it (rubber hose) should feel it sucking wont be huge but you will notice it. Or if could also be the diaphram in the booster stuffed. As said above check the shaft even if alternator is stuffed shouldnt affect vacuum at all. Regards Steve M
