Hello all,
recently started looking at this site, and this is our first post. Myself and my beautiful partner, and our 2 dogs are making our way back to Melbourne. We have travelled up the centre from Melbourne, gone down the Gibb RR and Mitchell Plateau, and lived and travelled down the WA coast for the past 6 months. Our dogs have been with us all the way, except for some kennelling when travelling in NP's. We are planning to leave from Perth on 22 Dec 2006, and arrive in Melbourne on 22 Jan 2007. I am sure that many people make this trip, and was wondering if anyone had tips on excellent places to go. We are happy to get off the main roads. We are in a late model Troopy. We only have a tent, no van. Any tips on where we can leave dogs for short term would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you been through the Flinders Ranges - particularly the Northern areas? We came back from Melbourne in 4 weeks; visited the Fleureiu Peninsular in SA and caught up with my friend from my primary school days, then headed north, spending not enough time in the Northern Flinders, then went to Marree, down the Borefield Track to Roxby and Woomera, then from Glenambo south to Wirrulla before heading west. It will of course be rather hot in the Flinders during mid summer; we were there in April. Dogs may limit your travels as some of the area is National Park.

Hi
As in another post we did west to east in Sept this year.
Fraser Range, about 80 kms east of Norseman was great, Kiralee Rockhole (just short of Coolgardie), off the bitumen about 5 kms, firespits, great walk around the area, Eucla caravan park for a $1 coin in the slot shower.
We then went to Fowlers Bay as the roadside stops were less attractive around Yalata.
Fuel at Eucla or Mundrabilla, stay away from the others if you can, also go into Norseman, fuel 7 cents cheaper than the highway BP when went through.
