Anyone been there?
It's about 25 km east of Warbuton.
It has showers, dunnies, allows hounds, has gas bbq's, fires are permitted etc.
Sounds great, but what is it like?
Is it cramped like a van
park or really a
camp ground with facilities?
I've tried calling the local DSE office but only get an answering machine.

Bill,
are you sure dogs are allowed?
this would be a real bonus.

Mal,
I spoke to the
Ranger today, dogs are OK on a leash.
Sounds like a great spot.

Yup, recommend it.
Lots of space, nicely grassed. Ameneties rooms if needed.
I recall you need to
check in and pay before 5pm as the gates are locked after a certain time (a key is given I think).

Hi Jerry,
When you book in over the phone they give you a pin number for the
gate and you can turn up later although it is hard to find the ideal area to setup in the dark.

Ah, yes, I remember, it was a pin number on a piece of paper when we registered, not a key.

When I used to be a member of the Pajero club we had our Christmas party there a few times and most of us camped over. Dogs are allowed but on leash only and are not allowed on any of the forest walks. There is plenty of room to walk them in the open area though. At times you can hear the Sambar
deer roar from the forest.
If you decide to go for a drive on the
Warburton-
Woods Point road also known as the Reefton spur be very aware of motorbikes. This area is notorious for having the highest number of motorbike accidents in Victoria as there is an
unofficial acceptable time for "doing" the Reefton spur.
In fact I think it's Reefton that has a large
sign outside the local CFA with lots of little motorbikes and a few cars on it with words to the effect that "we have picked up X number of crashed vehicles this year. Will You Be Next?" I always meant to take a photo of that
sign but alway forgot.
Regards Andrew.
