Is it worth it ? Retailers hocking them (DC1010 or derivative) over here for $25 - $40. Imagine any service outlet would have a minimum charge way over this price
Cheers

I realise that but I suspect the problem is very minor

He He! I used to get that sort of suggestion when someone used to bring in some electronics for me to fix; "probably only a resistor". One never knows until it's on
the bench (unless it's been run over by the wagon, whereupon the fault is more evident).

The problem is that when you press the trasmit button all that happens is that is that it transmits static

Michael,
I recently had a
HF radio tested and fitted to my Chevissan. The charged the job at $75.00 an hour.
They'll charge you an hour's work minimum just to have a look at it.
Chuck it and buy another one. Annoying I know. but that's how it is these days.

I agree. You can pick them up at DSE for around $30. Like everything else built today it is disposable !

Get a screwdriver and a soldering iron and have a go yourself.
What's the worst that could happen ;-)

When he tries to repair a digitally synthesized, surface mount with 0603, UHF transceiver...? Save his time and beat it to death now :)
