Gday

This is a copy of my reply to my post No39329 10 Nov. I have brought it to the top cos I noticed several posts asking what you can run with certain generators.

The following is simply my experience with an Eu 20.

"Many thanks for all the replies. Went ahead with the show special. They offered $1950 for cash iso credit card along with Honda $200 refund so pretty happy.

I paid about $1750 for one in 2003 so not bad with inflation etc.

For anyone wondering just what an Eu 20 will do.

In the beach shack we run together:
Large house type freezer
Large house type fridge
TV
Up to 8 globe lights & 2 fluros
and when the gang arrive
2nd 330l house fridge
3 or 4 x 40l Engels

The freezer and fridges get a hell of a workout in summer temps. The Eu 20 runs 24/7 for up to a month at a time. All on Eco switch 2 minutes after starting. It averages 10 to 11hrs per tank of fuel (4l). We change the (top quality) oil every 50hrs (recommended 100hrs) and it is placed off the ground and in any breeze available.
Touch wood it's still going strong after 3.5 years.

I've considered the cheaper alternatives such as Engel, Kipor etc but not prepared to chance it. Yamaha 2400w maybe but "when you're on a good thing....."

Regards
BTW I have no connection with Honda. I am just a happy customer."

Thanks for that Old Bushie, we are presently looking at this genie so it is just the info that we needed. We were also looking at it at the 4x4 show on Friday until we got called away but will revisit at the shop.

Cheers

Dunworkin,
I also looked at the Honda 2 at the recent show. Just for your info that shop in Midland will be holding that special price for a week or so.

I've had the EU20 for about 3 years now, never missed a beat.

The first thing I did when I got it home was boil an electric kettle with it.

It worked hard but boiled the kettle no worries.

Thanks Phantom, yes in our rush to get going that day the guy gave us a card and told us that they would keep the offer open for us for about 10 days.

Grizzle, I will be talking HWMBO to hook it straight up to the van, it may be an incentive to try it 'out in the bush'

Cheers

Wow running it 24/7 is massive, I would stick with Honda or Yamaha if I were doing that. Would drive me crazy any generator running 24/7.

We run it from a 30 metre cord. It lives in an open ended marine ply box on a stand behind a thick bush and mostly downwind.
During the day the only way we know it's running is the indicator lights on the freezer.
Sure beats the old 3.5kw or the diesel chugger we used in years past.

Hi Old Bushie,
I used to run my EU10i 24/7 and had trouble with carbon build up scoring the alloy bore, it is good to hear you have not had problems as I now have the EU20i as well.
Although I don't run the 2kva 24/7 It feels as though it is a stronger unit, it runs my 3.3 kw air con with the eco switch on it is great.
